Dj Noyl shared me a link to a recorded sequence from Djweb.tv. Of course he did a really good job in this video-mix-tape (The Miscs Ep.1)
Djweb.tv is a really great website offering a chance for Djs to mix live on the web.
maybe in the future I will put some visual effect in this screen to give a try to a live record.
In the mean time, go have a look on Noyl's website for more mix-tapes...
but there is one just to give you the taste
Don't care if you're a geek or a thug (underconstruction version) by djnoyl

Well I felt on the profile of Viktor Vicsek on LeCollagisteVJ and let me tell you, this guy have talent.
The first clip is, as I said, the real definition of Mapping in the VJ world.
Of course, it a lot more than you will see. The adjustement and calculation have to be really precise and it almost more Math than Art.
You can also have a look at NeonEdge.

In the next video you will see what we call mapping... RIP: A remix manifesto
Posted by
VJ CMOS
A friend and colleague send me a documentary about copyright and remix culture. Let me tell, it really well made. The subject is really interesting, and the argumentation is strong. They chose Girl Talk as the major artist since he make mash-up from a lot of pop song. And as you will see these songs do not belong to him. Every sound may be copyrighted? Kinda insane...
I suggest every DJ, VJ, and every artists working with numeric stuff to at least have a look at it.
The subject bring the controversy on some companies who used stories and legends of the past to make their reputation and now claim that we cannot do the same thing. For those who grow with Napster like me and saw the imposition of the new laws, it interesting to see how human manage to lock his own cultural evolution.
You will find all the credit for the movie on the National Film Board of Canada web site

Beauty and the Beast !

Last night I went to the Théâtre du Nouveau Monde (TNM) and I watched a piece using a lot of projection.
Read more to watch the trailer
Actually the most trilling part of the piece was to find how they do the media installation. Having a projection over an actor to put more to his play, or playing directly with a fake other actor. The actor play and the scenario was not that much spectacular. Unless the technical aspect have stolen the first place.
Have a look at the trailer!
You will find all the other information at this link
This kind of new theater with projection really start to emerge in Quebec with the creations of Robert Lepage.

VJ softwares : Resolume 2 and 3 (quick review)
Posted by
VJ CMOS
Lets talk : VJ software
Resolume 2.4
Right now I'm using Resolume 2.4 to make my projection. The soft is pretty simple for some one who already saw Photoshop and Premiere, and let say Fruityloop Studio. You play with your decks (20 video per deck) of short film trough tree layers. To merge and mix your layers just use the presents effects and play with the variation. It possible to synchronize most of the parameter with music or directly on the tempo.
I recommend it for your first trial. You do not really need a controller to fully use all the feature
Resolume 3 Avenue
I didn't fully test the new Resolume 3 Avenue yet. For what I saw it a little bit more complex...You can be DJ-VJ in same time by associating video and music sample together. So to do a good live set with this version you will need a MIDI or USB controller. If you just having an interest in vjing and want to try, it may not be the right fit...
Web site: http://www.resolume.com/
Anyway I already try a lot of other soft like Arkaos and you can find a big list of many other vjing software here : http://www.audiovisualizers.com/toolshak/vjprgpix/softmain.htm
